God, guns, and arrogance

Much ado has been made over Sen. Obama’s recent comments during a fundraiser in San Francisco, Politico about clinging to guns or religion. My question is why the shock? Should we really be surprised at all by such comments? I think this was simply a glimpse into the true feelings that elitists like Sen. Obama have for those of us in fly over country.  Once one attains the lofty status of US Senator, membership into a “Good Ole Boys” club is automatic elevating the lucky member to a new social status in the extremely exclusive chamber reserved for our illustrious elected servants of the people. It seems that such elevation also indicates a state of enlightenment for the select few, more so if the individual is fortunate enough to be more on the liberal side.  Liberals it appears are automatically more enlightened, smarter, and deserving of the anointing of the unwashed masses whom they must tolerate. Liberals who have attained such status seem only interested in pontificating about how to create a grand and glorious utopia that even we would be allowed to partake of if only on a limited basis. This is of course as long as we continue to allow those wonderful and enlightened visionaries to continue to rule and reign over us unchallenged.  I for one, fully intend to cling to both my God and my guns regardless of how politically incorrect that might be.  Ah well, as a charter member of the unwashed masses, it is my prerogative to remain a Christian patriot.
